Sawyer BLACK Edition reaches UK markets
Over the past year, we’ve been proud to work with Rethink Robotics in distributing their collaborative robot Sawyer to our customers. The multi-purpose intelligent robotic arm has proved popular with customers and their workforce thanks to its effectiveness in practice, easy application through its Intera software, and people-friendly safety control.
Following the acquisition of Rethink Robotics by HAHN Group, the company has combined German Engineering competence and years of application experience to create Sawyer BLACK Edition. The new model features more durable hardware, quieter operation, and higher-quality components, while retaining all of the key advantages that made Sawyer so useful for workplaces across the globe. General Manufacturing
Within minutes, Sawyer can easily be taught to pick up objects using a variety of arm attachments (including vacuum grippers and pneumatic grippers) and move those objects to where they need to be. Sawyer can carry out your pick and place tasks for as long as required, in harmony with your existing automation systems. This takes a job off the list for your workforce, and allows your staff to concentrate their efforts elsewhere whilst Sawyer reliably carries out its tasks in collaboration with the team.
Metal Fabrication
Machine tending can be one of the most undesirable tasks on any worker’s agenda, but Sawyer is right at home. An Embedded Cognex camera is found on Sawyer’s arm, allowing the cobot to use its seven degrees of freedom to take photographs of items from all angles. Sawyer’s intelligence inspects photographed items for thorough Quality Assurance, with full digital traceability of results, and error-proof processing. Electronics
Sawyer is applicable to electronics tasks in ways previously thought impossible. While the automation of PCB handling and ICT has historically been challenging due to the delicate nature of parts and the frequency of line changeovers, Sawyer is designed to overcome these concerns. With precise movements created by “teaching” Sawyer by hand – or using the built-in Intera software – the collaborative robot can rapidly redeploy these kind of components without having to re-configure the existing infrastructure.
Customer-Facing Applications
Sawyer has been built with safety in mind, and this allows the cobot to perform customer-facing applications without risk. A key example is Cobot Café, which you can use to impress and surprise guests and customers whilst the friendly Sawyer prepares a freshly brewed coffee! Your guests and customers order their favourite hot drink on an integrated tablet, and Sawyer will prepare and serve the beverage. This makes for a delightful demonstration, and a quality drink too!
